ALGORITHMIC SCANNING AND CLASSIFICATION
Dakar Academy reserves the right to scan electronic storage, documents, and emails with automated tools to detect and block malicious software, such as viruses, and to maintain network security. Emails may be scanned for inappropriate or abusive content, and delivery may be blocked for messages containing offensive language, known malicious senders, or specific attachment types.
Documents submitted by students for assessment may be scanned using software, machine learning, or artificial intelligence to detect incorrect citations or possible plagiarism. These classifications are reviewed by qualified instructors.
DA may use third-party systems to monitor, classify, and alert for specific keywords to protect the well-being of the school community.
SAFE BROWSING AND ACADEMIC USE
Dakar Academy expects community members to govern themselves appropriately online, understanding that school technology is for academic and administrative use. Please refer to our Responsible Use Agreement for Technology in conjunction with this statement.
While we expect self-regulation, we have tools to monitor and report online activity. Community members are expected to refrain from accessing inappropriate materials and to behave with decorum while online. DA maintains a list of blocked websites on campus and school-owned devices. Requests to unblock sites for academic or administrative purposes may be submitted.
DA may block internet protocols like BitTorrent, TOR, or VPNs, not intended for academic or business use. We do not monitor personal or social media accounts but encourage parents to engage with their children about online safety.
HOW DO WE PROTECT YOU AND YOUR DIGITAL INFO?

Safeguarding your information is a priority. We use reasonable administrative, technical, personnel, and physical measures to protect information from loss, unauthorized use, or alteration.
NON-SECURED COMMUNICATION
Posts to discussion forums, boards, and blog comments may be viewable by other users or the general public. Please be cautious when sharing personal information in these areas.

DAKAR ACADEMY ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION
DA may use remote administration tools to install applications and updates on school-owned devices. We may monitor online sessions on the school network and school-owned devices but do not record camera images, video, or microphone audio.
DA staff may inspect student-issued devices, emails, documents, or storage upon reasonable suspicion of violations of school policies, such as illegal behavior, bullying, or academic dishonesty. Parents or guardians may be contacted prior to such inspections.
DA may be required to provide student-issued devices and documents to external authorities upon receipt of a lawful warrant.
