Fine Arts & Creative Expression
Inspire. Create. Perform.
At Dakar Academy Schools, creativity isn’t just encouraged—it’s celebrated. Through a diverse range of fine and performing arts programs, students are given the space to express themselves, build confidence, and grow as artists and leaders. Whether they’re on stage, behind a camera, or holding a paintbrush, students explore their God-given talents in meaningful and engaging ways.
Creative Programs Offered Across Campuses
Visual Arts & Design
Painting, sculpture, mixed media, and woodworking are integrated into the curriculum across all campuses, with student art regularly displayed at school events and exhibitions. At DA Central, students also produce a student-run podcast, The Lion’s Share, that hones skills in storytelling, editing, and design.
Music & Worship
Music education begins early and includes choir, instrumental instruction, and worship teams. At all campuses, students can join worship bands that lead chapel services, using their musical gifts to encourage spiritual growth and serve their school communities.
Drama & Theater
Theatrical opportunities are most robust at DA Central, where students in grades 6–12 participate in two major productions each year. Past shows have included Frozen Jr., The Jungle Book, The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever, and more. At DA West and South, drama is offered through elementary and middle school performances and classroom presentations that introduce students to stage performance.
Talent Shows & Art Exhibitions
Each campus hosts annual showcases to celebrate student creativity—whether that’s through musical performance, visual art, drama, or spoken word. These events are a highlight of the year and a testament to the range of talents in our school community.
Private Lessons
Voice and instrument lessons are available across campuses through fee-based private instruction, giving students the opportunity to grow their skills in a focused, one-on-one setting.
Campus Highlights
DA Central
DA Central is home to the most extensive fine and performing arts program. With dedicated drama, choir, and art classes, students take part in full-scale productions, performance-based electives, and technical theater roles such as set design, costume creation, and audiovisual production. A student-run podcast and worship leadership team further extend opportunities for creative expression and leadership.
DA West
DA West offers a growing arts program with visual arts integrated into the elementary and middle school curriculum and opportunities for creative expression in after-school activities like singing, guitar, drums, and talent showcases. Elementary students regularly perform in seasonal concerts and short plays. The student worship team leads chapel worship weekly.
DA South
At DA South, students explore their creativity through art, music, and performance-based learning integrated into class projects and campus events. The campus offers student performances during school-wide events and after-school options like theatre and dance. Like the other campuses, DA South has a worship team that leads chapel and encourages spiritual growth through music.
A Stage for Every Story
From preschool through high school, students at Dakar Academy Schools are encouraged to express themselves, collaborate with others, and step into leadership through the arts. Whether performing in a musical, designing a set, or leading worship, every student has a place to shine.
