Our Senior Seminar combines career planning & life skills in a 1-semester class required for all high school students. Students are led in a series of explorations into knowing themselves better, utilizing a variety of inventories and tools such as the Career Key to investigate current and future career possibilities, as well as guided time to work through their college applications and scholarship applications with the high school counselor. Individual counseling is also available to assist families with exploring post-high-school options.

Each spring, students in grades 8 – 11 select their classes for the following year. Our high school counselor meets with the 8th-grade students to make their first high school decisions. Additionally, 11th-grade students are presented with a credit evaluation to ensure that they will meet graduation requirements. All students (and their parents) will be given a yearly credit evaluation to ensure that they are meeting DA’s graduation requirements.

An invaluable tool for the entire DA community, FACTS administrative software enables real-time grade book access and gives parents the ability to see exactly how their child is doing. The school calendar, daily announcements, and a wealth of other information are accessed through a secure log-in site for parents, students, and staff.

Our staff understands the challenges that Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and expat children often face both personally and professionally. Our counseling department offers one-on-one support for TCKs and any students struggling with the transition to living internationally.
